Newsletters & Homework

On Friday, September 5th, students will be bringing home the very first classroom newsletter and homework calendar of the year. You can expect to see a classroom newsletter every Friday. I will also place a link to download the newsletter here on my blog. The newsletter will include important school updates, as well as "A Peek at Next Week" so that you can see ahead of time what we will be focusing on in the classroom.

Our homework calendars have an activity of the day to help reinforce what we're learning in school. Occasionally, you will see a link to a specific website to practice one of our songs. The activities are intended to last less than 10 minutes a day. You may find that some activities are too simple or too difficult for your child. Feel free to modify the activity to suit your child's needs. The main idea of our homework calendars is to help students develop a routine for learning at home. Some activities require paper and pencil, which would be a perfect time to find a homework notebook that your child can go to when needed. Students are welcome to turn in their homework notebook at the end of the month, along with their completed (and signed by you) calendar for a trip to the treasure box! Notebooks aren't necessary for a trip to the treasure box, but the signed calendar is!

We will also begin the Pizza Hut Book-It! program in October, to help your child develop daily reading habits.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to send me an email at asmith@springboro.org

It's Going to Be an AWESOME year!

I can't believe we've already had our first week of school! (And what an awesome week it was!)
Time flies when you're having fun!
Every year, I go on a trip to Ann Arbor, Michigan to watch the first football game of the season. I always take with me the new paperwork that families have completed so that I can learn about my new kiddos on the 3 hour drive. By the time Sunday (today) rolls around, I find myself missing these new smiling faces already! I can't wait for Tuesday! This morning, I created this image below to hang in our classroom. It's so true! I'm so glad you are on the journey with me this year!
